(ongoing)

BBC1 outside of London, BBC2, ITV and colour duplication each took up to 10 years to reach across all parts of the UK.  However, the last two terrestrial channels, Channel 4 (from 1982) and  Channel 5 (from 1997) were available in most of their projected coverage  areas from the outset. All the 405 line vhf transmissions had ceased by 1985, although some of the sites were brought back into use for uhf  television purposes when Channel 5 went on air.
